Catching up

Well it has been almost a month, so I thought I would fill you in on what I have been up to.
Truck was totaled, bought back and put on the road. I went to a really cool EMS convention in Baltimore last week. IF anyone remembers Emergency! The TV show, I met Randolph Mantooth. I have been busting my hump at work and doing physical therapy for my back.
I am still trying to interview with 6 Flags and I talked to several ambulance companies at the convention about jobs.
I am going to join another station, in Waldorf. They are EMS only. Their deputy chief was my EMT instructor. I have not even turned in my application and he is putting me on the insurance so I can learn to drive the ambulances and gave me a pager!!
I will update more this weekend!!

New Name for my Blog?

I am thinking I need to change the name of my blog. I do not seem to be living a voluntary life any more. I volunteer to go to War and don't get sent, I voluntarily apply for a part time job, show up for the interview only to find the person who needs to interview me is not there, and I spend to nights in a row at the firehouse and do not go out on one call!!
Yeah, I went to Six Flags for a job interview and sat for about forty minutes in a room waiting for my application I did online to be printed. Had to fill out another set of forms then was sent to building number two for the interview. After waiting 20 minutes in this building, I was finally called for an interview. A few minutes into the interview the girl doing the interview, who looked about 18 years old, realized I was there for the EMT job. Oh no, she has to get some one else to interview me. After waiting five or ten minutes while she runs around the building, I find out the person to interview me is not there. He will get in touch with me to arrange an interview. So end up wasting almost 3 hours including travel time for nothing!!
Friday night not a call went out. Saturday as I am getting ready to walk out the door the bells go off. I had to get home so Joan could head out with the older girls, so I could not go. Saturday night, a call went out, then got cancelled before we could even get downstairs. About 0400 a call went out and since I knew we had to wait for the 5 minute challenge I ran into pee. Well, by then we had enough people dressed and ready to roll, I was told to hang back for a second call. Then, this morning, while still in the shower, another call goes out. OF course I need to get home to be with Kyleigh while Joan takes the girls to Church, so I missed another one!!

Job interview

I am going on a job interview today. I am going to try to get a summer job as an EMT at Six-Flags America. I do not know what made me think about it, but one day this week I went online and filled out an application and got a phone message within a day to come by and interview. I figure, if the pay is decent, I can give up my weekends. At least I might get a little experience. I figure, What the Heck.
Looks like the truck is gonna be totaled, but I talked to the guy that runs the shop where it is. He thinks the best thing for me to do is fight the insurance company for the most money I can. Then I request to retain salvage, that means I pay them to keep my truck. He thinks that will be about $2000. He says he can get the truck road worthy again for another $1500-$2000. So with what we think we can get for the truck, I might actually put money in the pocket.
I had an appointment with the Dr the lawyers set up on Thurs. I went on Friday for physical therapy. They did some electrode stuff and my back feels better than it has since the accident!! I did find out that because I am in the Army, it will probably take longer to settle the lawsuit. The Army gets to have a say, so they can try to recoup lost wages and the money tricare spent on my treatment and meds.

Awwww Crap!

Well, I do not have the official paperwork yet, but the adjuster told me on the phone the truck is totaled. Now we just have to see how much we get for it. Back is still sore and the knot on my forehead has not completely gone away and is still tender. We do have a lawyer. We went with the guys from..."IF you have a phone, you have a lawyer." They get nothing if I don't win, so I figure they will do what it takes. They arranged a DR appointment for me tomorrow.
Had a decent time on Monday night with some fellow PC grads. No one from my group was there. Hopefully a few folks from the area I know will show up next time. One of them reads this! You know who you are!
I am going TDY for an over nighter next week. The SPC who works with me and I will fly to Ft Monroe and do a morning brief, then do a second brief the next day, then fly back.
I guess until this back straightened out I am going to have to lay low at the firehouse.
Good Night!!!
